EnCana Chair in Canadian Plains Mitigation and Reclamation Research
Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary

The University of Calgary invites applications for the newly founded EnCana Chair in Canadian Plains Mitigation and Reclamation Research, in the Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) (www.ucalgary.ca/evds).

The purpose of the Chair is to advance the research and teaching strength of the Faculty of Environmental Design, specifically via research into assessment, mitigation and reclamation activities associated with the exploration and development of oil & gas resources. The intent of this research is to promote the sustainability of the Canadian plains, with an emphasis on native prairies, throughout the petroleum development process.

The research will assist in understanding the direct and indirect effects of oil & gas development on the physical, biological and social environment and designing appropriate interventions for mitigation and reclamation.

This is an externally funded, limited term (5-year) appointment, intended to be at the level of Associate or Full Professor. Consideration will also be given to more junior candidates, with exceptional research records and potential.

The candidate is expected to be a distinguished scholar, with an established research program.

Applicants are expected to hold advanced degrees (Ph.D.s expected) in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography or a closely related discipline.

A demonstrated record of teaching excellence in Interdisciplinary Environmental Science will be considered a strong asset.
