Job: Assistant Professor -- Materials Chemistry

Chemistry Department

The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Faculty Position at the Assistant Professor rank, that complements the strengths of The Center for Smart Metal-Organic Materials Advanced Research and Technology Transfer (SMMARTT).

USF-SMMARTT synergizes existing research strengths in the USF School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, within the College of Arts and Sciences and the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine and Public Health.

USF-SMMARTT is expected to move into new, custom-designed laboratory facilities before the end of 2010.

While any research focus will be considered, molecular or metal-organic materials synthesis and/or characterization are preferred.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program. The applicant must be eminently qualified to teach undergraduate courses in Chemistry and may also participate in materials-related Chemistry courses.

Potential applicants must possess Ph.D.s in Chemistry, Materials Science or closely related areas and preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience in those areas.

Applicants interested in pursuing scholarly activities in a culturally diverse environment are particularly encouraged to apply.

Salary is negotiable.

Applicants must submit online applications by November 20, 2009.

Applications should include letters of interest, CVs, statements on teaching philosophies and research plans with brief research proposals.
