The Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics (APAM) at Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science in New York City invites applications for one tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor, associate professor or full professor level starting July 1, 2018 in the core areas of computational and applied mathematics. The Applied Mathematics Program within APAM has strong research and educational programs in Applied and Computational Mathematics and its applications in many areas of Physical Sciences, Computational and Data Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Materials and Biological Sciences and Engineering. Candidates are sought with an outstanding record of research accomplishments and the potential for future exceptional research. Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching and mentoring is essential.

An ideal candidate is one who actively contributes to curricular activities in the applied mathematics Ph.D. program and engages in the development of applied mathematics methodologies with impact across fields. Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D. or DES or Sc.D.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics or related areas and should have outstanding accomplishments in both applied mathematics research and teaching. Duties include mathematical research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and departmental and university service. Applicants at the Assistant Professor and Associate Professors without tenure must have the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively. Applicants at the tenured level (Associate or Full Professor) must have a demonstrated record of outstanding research accomplishments and excellent teaching credentials.
