A postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately within the High Performance Simulation Laboratory (HiPerSimLab) for Thermo-Fluids at the University of Pittsburgh. The position is available for one year and can be renewed for an additional year upon satisfactory performance.

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to conduct research advancing the modeling of exchange processes of heat, moisture, and momentum for wind flow over complex terrain using both direct and large-eddy simulation techniques. The computational framework for the research project will be a multi-GPU parallel Cartesian immersed boundary solver.

The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong background in parallel scientific computing for thermal and fluid sciences using C/C++ and MPI. Experience with GPU computing using CUDA and/or OpenACC is desirable.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in mechanical, aerospace, computational science and engineering, atmospheric sciences or applied mathematics with a strong academic record as evidenced by relevant course work, publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or conference papers. The annual salary for this position is $54,000 plus health benefits and professional travel funds to present research findings at a conference.

Applicants should send a one-page cover letter summarizing their qualifications and research accomplishments, a CV, unofficial transcripts for their undergraduate and graduate studies, and contact information for three references as a single pdf document electronically with the subject line "Postdoctoral application" to Dr. Inanc Senocak
