University College Cork is seeking to make a senior level (Professor – Scale 2) appointment in Microbial Systems Modelling to further strengthen its research activities in the School of Microbiology, Department of Medicine and APC Microbiome Ireland. Reporting to the Head of the School of Microbiology and the Director of the APC Microbiome Ireland the Professor (Scale 2) in Microbial Systems Modelling will be expected to contribute to the research mission and the teaching/learning objectives of both. The candidate should have an internationally acclaimed research record in the area of constraint modelling and mining of datasets for microbial genomes, intestinal metagenomes, and the development of curated metabolic models of microbial and human metabolism operating under different conditions, states and nutrient availability. It is thus expected that the appointee’s research programme will provide new insights into nutritional aspects of human microbiome science and gut ecology, and their influence on human health and well-being. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to complement, support and add new research themes to existing APC research and industry collaborations.

Appointment will be made on the Professor (Scale 2) Salary Scale: €97,346 – €113,887 (Scale B)
