Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty – Department of Information Sciences and Technology

The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology, within the Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE), invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level beginning Fall 2017. The position will be housed in the department of Information Sciences and Technology. The department has over 20 full-time faculty members and in addition to B.S. and M.S. programs in Information Technology, the department also participates in an interdisciplinary B.S. in Cyber Security Engineering, M.S. in Data Analytics Engineering, and Ph.D. in Information Technology (concentration in IST) offered by VSE. Candidates for senior ranks must have an established record of excellence in research and teaching. Such candidates will be eligible for tenured appointments appropriate to the rank. While applicants in all areas of information sciences and technology will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in digital, privacy and security and cybersecurity engineering.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Establishing a competitive research program in his/her area(s) of expertise; * Develop and/or continue multidisciplinary collaboration; and * Satisfy teaching and service requirements consistent with department policies.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: information sciences, information technology, computer science, or a related field. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research with the potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to excellence in university teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will be those who have experience or ability to teach courses in at least one of areas of engineering impacted by cybersecurity issues.
