The Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering of Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering is looking for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join the research work.
Your goal as a Postdoctoral Researcher will be to develop a new class of quantum photonic devices (such as single photon emitters, photon-pair emitters, single photon detectors) based on various nanomaterials, such as one-dimensional materials (e.g. carbon nanotubes, nanowires) and two-dimensional layered materials (e.g. transition metal dichalcogenide or boron nitride monolayers). You’ll get to conduct high quality research independently and to work as an active member of the research groups by taking part in project management duties and guiding M.Sc. and Doctoral students.
This research position will be jointly supported by four research groups (i.e. the Photonics group, the Nanoscience and Advanced Materials group, and the Micro and Quantum Systems group and the Optoelectronics group) at the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering. All four research groups are located in the Micronova Nanofabrication Center, the largest academic clean room facility in the Nordics.
Professor Zhipei Sun leads the Photonics group, which mainly focuses on the study of physical properties of various nanomaterials (e.g. carbon nanotubes, nanowires, 2D materials) for photonics and optoelectronic applications. Professor Harri Lipsanen leads the Nanoscience and Advanced Materials group, which studies the fabrication, processing and characterization of various nanomaterials (e.g. 2D materials, compound semiconductor nanowires) for nanoelectronics and photonics. Professor Ilkka Tittonen leads the Micro and Quantum Systems group, which investigates quantum optics, quantum theory on semiconductors, organic light-active molecules, thermoelectrics and ion trapping. Professor Markku Sopanen leads the Optoelectronics group, which specializes in materials research (e.g. MOVPE growth of compound semiconductors and their nanostructures) for optoelectronics.
PhD degree in quantum photonics, physics, nanosciences or material sciences is favorable for the position
Proven track record in major scientific research
Excellent knowledge of nanophotonics
Good command of English is necessary
SALARY AND CONTRACT TERMS
Postdoctoral Researcher position will be filled for 1-3 years. The expected starting salary is approximately 3500 €/month, depending on experience and qualifications. Salary will increase according to responsibilities and performance over time. The contract includes occupational health benefits, holiday bonus, and Finland has a comprehensive social security system. Preferable starting time is before summer 2017 but can be also negotiable.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through the "Apply for this job" link below and include the following attachments:
Application cover letter
Course transcripts of Doctoral degree with grades and Certificate of Doctoral degree
List of publications with the most significant publications highlighted
