The School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland, New Zealand invites applications for the position of lecturer or senior lecturer in wine science. The successful candidate will coordinate, lecture, and supervise laboratories in our undergraduate introduction to wine science course WINESCI 201 and also lecture on wine science topics including wine microbiology and sensory science at postgraduate level. The successful candidate will also develop a research programme complementary to the expertise already developed within our Wine Science programme.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in wine science, biology, chemistry, or a closely related field, and will also have a credential in wine sensory science and tasting at least equivalent to WSET level 3. Preferential consideration will be given to candidates with postdoctoral research experience and lecturing experience in wine science.

The University of Auckland (42,000 students) is New Zealand’s leading university, and maintains significant computational, laboratory and analytic facilities. Auckland itself is frequently rated as one of the world’s most livable cities. The postgraduate wine science teaching programme is based on Waiheke Island, a 30 minute ferry ride from Auckland.
