The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Regina invites applications for a 3-year term faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in any area of chemistry, starting January 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, with research interests in any area of chemistry (including analytical, chemical biology, education, inorganic, organic, and physical) and a publication record that demonstrates their contributions to this research area. A minimum of one year (as of October 2024) of professional research experience beyond the Ph.D. is required; examples include academic postdoctoral or research associate research, research in industrial/government labs, and science education research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a funded research program in their chosen area of research, will have the ability to teach introductory chemistry, general chemistry, and organic chemistry at the first and second year levels, and will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has thirteen full time faculty members with a strong dedication to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and externally funded research programs that provide research experience opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. The department houses modern instrumentation available for research and teaching, including two 400 MHz Bruker Avance NEO NMR spectrometers (one each for solid and liquid samples), Agilent Cary 8454 diode array UV-Vis spectrometer (with advanced kinetic software and recirculating temperature control), Agilent 5977 GC-MS, HPLC, and Autopol Polarimeter. Other new low and high-resolution LC-MS/MS instrumentation is available in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the Trace Analysis Facility (focused on small organic molecules including pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and other emerging contaminants), and the Proteomics and Genomics Core Facility (large-scale proteomics, genetic and drug screening, protein identification).  Information about the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is available at:

The Faculty of Science also houses the Laboratory for Computational Discovery, the Cellular Impacts Facility (wide-field fluorescence and confocal microscopy), the Electron Microbeam Facility (Tescan Vega 3 and JEOL JSM-6360 SEMs), the Institute for Environmental Change and Society, and the Institute for Microbial Systems and Society, which provide a wide variety of advanced instrumentation as well as opportunities for collaboration.  Information about the Faculty of Science is available at:
