WE ARE SEEKING ONE POSTDOC IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. We are looking for a highly motivated chemist to investigate the role of chemical modifications of polysaccharide based drug carriers. Successful post doc candidates must hold or have a closely pending doctoral-level degree in chemistry, preferably with a background in therapeutics or drug carriers. Additionally, post doc candidates should have at least two first author publications in English language peer reviewed journals.

It is required that the candidate have experience in chemical synthesis. It is preferred that they have one or more of the following skills: mammalian cell culture, analytical methods, polymer synthesis, acid-sensitive moieties, and chemical ligation of biologics. This is an interdisciplinary laboratory where a successful candidate will be willing to not only perform chemical synthesis, but formulate liposomes and polymeric particles as well as characterize them analytically and biologically, using methods developed in the lab. It is a an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated post doc to learn new skills in drug formulations.

The Ainslie lab is located at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy in the newly finished Marsico Hall. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is #1 in the country. This position will be part of a NIH funded project. As a post doc in the Ainslie lab you would be working closely with an interdisciplinary team and expected to be active in every level of the research from polymer development to work with different animal models. This position is a temporary position for 1-3 years. We are not seeking individuals interested in a long-term research position.
