Professor (Tenured) in Physics

The Division of Physics and Applied Physics in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of NTU provides a multidisciplinary academic program that provides students with a wide-ranging and up-to-date education. This hiring intends to strengthen the division’s research activity in Photonics or closely related areas, and to foster the existing partnership with the University of Southampton. We are looking for an established scientist in the field willing to assume a leadership role across the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT) at NTU (https://www.ntu.edu.sg/cdpt) and the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton (https://www.orc.soton.ac.uk/).

The candidates are expected to:

  • Establish a world-class research program,

  • Enhance the School’s visibility as an international leader in education and research

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses

  • Actively collaborate with CDPT and ORC faculty and researchers

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality innovative research in terms of publishing top-tier papers

  • Giving invited talks at international conferences, securing competitive research grants, and supervising research personnel

  • Split their time between NTU (80%) and the University of Southampton (20%)

  • Contribute to teaching and course development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels

  • Giving academic supervision of undergraduate and graduate students

  • Undertake administrative and/or leadership roles

  • Contribute to other service-related activities assigned by the School and University

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics or a related discipline

  • Strong record of research and relevant publications in reputable peer-reviewed international journals

  • A good track record of securing competitive research grants

  • A good track record of supervising research staff, postdocs, PhD students, and interns in relevant fields

  • Experienced in cross-disciplinary research initiatives and collaboration
