The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track Laboratory Instructor II position, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual with a strong commitment to Statistics and Data Science education. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering undergraduate laboratory instruction, focusing on modern computational methods and statistical applications.

Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Instructor will:

  • Teach, develop, and manage undergraduate laboratories in Statistics and Data Science.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise graduate teaching assistants.
  • Enhance laboratory curricula through innovative teaching approaches and best practices in computational statistics and data analysis.
  • Contribute to departmental and university service, supporting academic programming and student success initiatives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of an M.Sc. in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and laboratory instruction, particularly in Statistics or Data Science.
  • Proficiency in Python and R, with expertise in areas such as statistical computing, statistical learning and predictive modeling, linear statistical methods, numerical analysis, and optimization.
  • A strong ability to apply modern teaching methodologies and create an engaging learning environment.
  • Experience in managing personnel and computational resources.
  • A collegial and professional approach to collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.

Candidates will be evaluated based on their past teaching experience, potential for future contributions to high-quality laboratory-based education, and commitment to instructional excellence. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
