The Computer Science Department at Missouri State University invites applications for a tenure-track (full-time, 9 months) Assistant Professor position starting Spring or Fall 2019. The selection process will begin September 20, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
A PhD in Computer Science or in a closely related field (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Engineering) is required. Exceptional ABDs with teaching experience may be considered. Applicants are invited from all areas of computer science, but candidates with experience in Security, Data Science, HCI, and VR/Games are highly encouraged to apply. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Applicants must show a potential for excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Other expectations include: (1) independent research leading to peer-reviewed discipline-related publications and potential for external funding commensurate with the Master’s level institution, (2) supervision of students’ research/thesis/project, and (3) service to the Computer Science department, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Missouri State University, the local/regional community, and the profession. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. The letter of application must include a commitment to working with diverse populations.
