Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), a comprehensive Christian university, offers over 60 areas of study, 19 master’s degrees in seven different disciplines and one doctoral degree. In addition to its 85-acre campus located in Nampa, Idaho, the University also offers programs online as well as in Boise, Idaho Falls, McCall, Twin Falls and in cooperation with programs in 10 countries. Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University, Department of Biology is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in biology to begin in August 2017. The candidate should have primary competency in wildlife biology, vertebrate zoology, or ecology. The teaching assignment will include lower and upper division courses in biology and will be adjusted based on the experience of the selected applicant. Possible courses/labs to be taught include but are not limited to: environmental science, general biology, general ecology, field ecology, tropical ecology, vertebrate zoology (ornithology and mammalogy), and plant taxonomy. Other responsibilities include student advising, recruiting of new students and committee service. Research is an integral part of our program and is required of majors. This position also requires the applicant to develop an active research program with undergraduates. Collaboration is encouraged and funding is available for release time, personnel and supplies. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or be near degree completion, in an appropriate field of Biology. Strong candidates will possess proven ability in the classroom setting, will exhibit evidence of being able to form and/or maintain an active research program, and will be strongly committed to the Church of the Nazarene and its mission and doctrines. The university requires that all candidates have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU.

The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
