West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Biology in the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of biology to begin fall 2017.

Duties:

Teaching responsibilities for this position include Vertebrate Embryology, Human Anatomy and Physiology (for pre-nursing students and biology majors), Evolution, and Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy. The successful candidate will have opportunity to develop at least one additional upper division course according to the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the department. Additional courses may be assigned. Other duties typically assigned to WVU Tech faculty include: service on committees, academic advising, and curriculum development. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students and write grants to support this program. The Department seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of WVU Tech.

WVU Tech is a regional division of the West Virginia University system with campuses currently located in both Montgomery and Beckley, West Virginia. Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Biology with strength in vertebrate anatomy, evolution, and developmental biology is

required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to undergraduate

teaching and mentoring are also required. Effective teaching ability in biology at the college

undergraduate level, and evidence of scholarly promise are highly desirable. The abilities to

integrate new technologies in the classroom and teach web classes are preferred.

All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
