As a part of an effort to create an internationally renowned group in the mathematical sciences, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) invites applications for at least two tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in Pure Mathematics. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in mathematics and scholarly accomplishments appropriate to those of a faculty member at a research-intensive university. Positions will have flexible starting dates in summer 2019 or later. Matters of rank and salary will be decided commensurate with qualifications. OIST provides faculty members with funding for postdoctoral scholars, travel, visitors, and for organizing conferences and workshops held at OIST.
Successful candidates are expected to establish an active and independent program of research, to supervise Ph.D. students, to teach in the graduate program, and perform service tasks.
OIST is a research institution with a Ph.D. program and is beautifully situated on the tropical island of Okinawa, Japan. Both our graduate student body as well as faculty are outstanding and very international in composition.
