The Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences is a research intensive Faculty with extensive teaching operations in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. The National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) is committed to developing and applying innovative statistical methods to important problems. It undertakes a range of fundamental and contract research, major consulting projects, and professional education in statistical methodology.

The Centre for Bioinformatics and Biometrics (CBB) within NIASRA is seeking to appoint a motivated applied Research Fellow (Applied Statistics/Biometrics) to provide specialist statistical input, with opportunities for methodological development, to collaborative research within Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) funded projects, with particular emphasis on statistical and data processing methods for large data sets arising in plant genomic studies. This position will work alongside a team developing statistical software to fit the linear mixed model to such data, with opportunities to contribute to statistical and numerical procedures.

As a key member of the project team you will have the opportunity to undertake industry driven collaborative research, with an emphasis on statistical methods for large data sets from plant improvement programs, and broader statistical support for major projects in the research portfolio of the GRDC.
