We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to work in the area of Health Informatics. In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of multi-disciplinary researchers to design, develop and deploy Semantic Web and data analysis algorithms on big clinical data sets, addressing semantic interoperability challenges posed by current healthcare information systems. This position will prepare the postdoctoral fellow for an independent career in informatics research.
Conduct innovative research and software development in heath informatics
Develops analytical and/or software solutions for research questions.
Publish in journals and conferences, and present at national and international venues
Collaborate with engineers, physicians, and scientists across many disciplines
Performs other related duties as assigned.
PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering or science discipline
Research experience in one or more of the following areas: Semantic Web, Big Data Analytics, Intelligent Information Systems, and Natural Language Processing.
Strong journal publication record in any of the above-mentioned areas.
PhD conferred within 5 years prior to employment.
Experience with High Performance Computing Platforms
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Experience developing and deploying large scale software
Experience working in collaborative software teams
This postdoctoral position is for one year contract, which may be renewed subject to funding. You will join a research team from the department of Software Engineering and the department of Computer Science, investigating semantic interoperability issues for healthcare big data, clinical pathways deployment, and big data analytics for disease management. There may be teaching opportunity of one course per term, if needed.
