Start-up funds for research are available and additional start-up funds may be available from the Office of Biotechnology. Facilities available include substantial biobased products/food processing laboratories, fermentation equipment at bench to pilot scale, a high throughput microbial and chemical analysis laboratory, and core campus facilities for biological, engineering and chemical preparation and analysis. CCUR also has multiple state-of-the-art processing pilot plants. The successful candidate will teach and develop industrial and food fermentation and food processing courses, supervise graduate students, and participate in departmental programs. For senior faculty ranks, leadership of the fermentation programs within CCUR, BEI and the BCRF are available.

Required Qualifications: Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Industrial or Food Microbiology, Food Science or Engineering or closely related area, must be able to teach fermentation and food processing related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferred Qualifications: All ranks: Experience in industrial or food fermentation and/or food processing; and experience in pilot plant research and development. Senior ranks: Research and funding experience with industry and government programs both domestic and international.
