The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in a DOE ERSP-funded collaborative project among Montana State University, University of California at Davis, Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory and the School of Mines.
The position is for a qualified individual with experience in the area of Environmental Biotechnology.
The individual will be responsible for studying microbial interactions with uranium and soil minerals and collaborating with faculty, staff and students in the research.
The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to work with graduate and undergraduate students in Environmental Biotechnology.
Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology, Environmental Engineering, Soil Microbiology or a related field is required.
The candidate must have a strong desire and motivation to conduct independent and innovative research and organize work to effectively supervise student research assistants.
Demonstrated research experience with modern approaches, such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, micro-XRD, Scanning confocal laser microscopy, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Mssbauer spectroscopy and Synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy, is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
Salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications. This is a 90% level of effort, benefited position. Possibility of increased effort in the future, dependent upon funding.
