The Petroleum Geosciences Program of The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), is seeking outstanding Faculty candidates to teach undergraduate and graduate course and conduct research, preferably that impacts the UAE petroleum industry.
Appointment of faculty at Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Chaired and Distinguished Professor may be given, depending on qualifications.
We will also consider 1 year and 2 year temporary appointments for senior faculty applicants and for faculty sabbaticals. Experience with carbonate rock systems is advantageous.
Carbonate Sedimentologist: Candidates must have experience in carbonate sedimentology and petrography, preferably of Mesozoic carbonate depositional systems. Applicants with experience in carbonate reservoir characterization will be given special consideration.
Reflection Seismology: Candidates must have expertise in seismic acquisition and processing, with skills in advanced processing, seismic inversion, seismic imaging and multi-component analysis, or in seismic interpretation, including interpretation of seismic attributes.
Petrophysics -- Rock Physics: Petrophysicist with experience in carbonate well log interpretation and rock physics techniques is requested. Rock physics techniques must include fluid substitution, seismic/rock physics reservoir characterization, AVO and monitoring of recovery processes. Candidates should have good IT, data management and rock laboratory experience.
Petroleum Geosciences: Candidates must have expertise in petroleum exploration, development, and reservoir management and familiarity with modern E&P geoscience software applications. Applicants with experience in geoscience systems computer modeling will be given special consideration.
Structural Geology: Candidates with expertise in structural modeling of faulted and fractured carbonate reservoirs are preferred. Successful applicants must be able to support other areas of research in the program. The Petroleum Geosciences will consider additional faculty applicants who would support the Program's educational goals.
Research Associate: Depending on award of a major grant, we seek recent Ph.D.s in geophysics, math or physics to work in the area of carbonate rock physics and geophysics research. Rock physics candidates must have experience in development of computational physical modeling. Geophysics candidates must have expertise in reflection seismology, monitoring and analyzing passive seismic data, earthquake source mechanics or numerical modeling of fluid propagation. Positions will be for up to three years.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is a modern city with a population of almost a million. Abu Dhabi has direct air links to most major cities in the world. Theatres, an international film series, art exhibitions, and music concerts provide ample cultural opportunities.
