POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The Department of Chemistry at Lehman College-CUNY invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning Sept. 1, 2010 (open until filled). The anticipated hire will be in the area of Biochemistry and the appointment will be made at a rank that is commensurate with appointee's experience. The successful candidate will fully participate in the life of the Department, College and University including serving on appropriate committees and participating in the Graduate Center. Collaborations with other departments are strongly encouraged. Interdisciplinary teaching in more that one area of chemistry is highly preferred.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A Ph.D. in biochemistry or closely related field is required. Post-doctoral experience preferred. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Also, the candidate must be able to maintain a strong externally funded and high quality research program engaging undergraduate and graduate students that will attract external funding and lead to an internationally visible research program.
