Protein Research Group

We are currently about 50 group members, including 8 principal investigators and a number of postdoctoral fellows, students, staff and long-term visitors.

Our research focuses on the development and application of sensitive and specific mass spectrometry based methods for biomolecule identification and microcharacterisation. We study proteins, oligonucleotides, lipids and carbohydrates by MALDI and ESI mass spectrometry. We also use a variety of chemical, biochemical and bioinformatics techniques.

The Protein Research Group is part of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark (see maps) and the Department section Biomedical Mass Spectrometry and Systems Biology. Several courses are offered within the Protein Research Group.
