The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) seeks to fill a full-time (9 month) lecturer position in Chemistry starting in the Fall 2021. The candidate should be able to deliver a first-class teaching experience in undergraduate general chemistry, a coordinated course serving primarily engineering and science students with many sections, and intermediate chemistry courses, especially physical chemistry with emphasis in computational chemistry. The candidate should possess impeccable organizational and strong collaborative skills, can multitask, and help manage the department’s computational facilities. The successful applicant will contribute to curriculum development and assessment activities; and be an active member of the intellectual community. Candidates who can also contribute to the undergraduate research experience is highly desirable. This position requires the candidate have a PhD in Chemistry or related fields and have previous teaching experience.
The Chemistry and Chemical Biology department has a rich history in the chemical sciences with a mission of educating the next generation of scientists in computational, molecular, and cellular aspects of chemistry and biology. The department offered the first undergraduate degree in Chemical Biology and a former faculty member, Dr. Irving Langmuir, won the 1932 Nobel Prize in surface chemistry. The department currently consists of 15 full time faculty members, approximately 120 undergraduates, 50 Masters and 25 doctoral students.
