A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Maryam Raeeszadeh-Sarmazdeh at the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at University of Nevada, Reno. We are looking for talented and motivated postdoctoral candidates, who are interested in protein engineering to develop a) protein designer scaffolds targeting enzymes, and b) smart stimuli-responsive protein systems, by combination of directed evolution and rational design with applications in biomedicine and biosensing. Qualified candidates should possess a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, cell and molecular biology, or related disciplines.
Prospective postdoctoral applicants with skills and interest in protein engineering and design, including 1) molecular biology and cloning, 2) directed evolution and rational design of proteins using cell display platforms and FACS, 3) recombinant protein expression and purification in different hosts, 4) protein biochemistry and enzyme kinetics, and 5) cell-based assays, are highly encouraged to apply for the position. Expertise in structural biology such as X-ray crystallography or computational methods such as protein molecular modeling and machine learning is a plus. Interested applicants should email Dr. Raeeszadeh-Sarmazdeh at email@example.com and include a CV outlining publications, research interests and skills, as well as a list of three references.
Deadline: until filled with the start date as early as Aug 2022
About Sarmazdeh Lab: Sarmazdeh lab is interested in protein engineering and design and synthetic biology to develop novel therapeutics, drug delivery, biosensing, and biocatalysis tools and products. We use rational and combinatorial protein engineering techniques to create new bioengineering tools and develop designer protein scaffolds and smart protein fusions and assemblies.
