Tenure Track Assistant / Associate Professor in Plant Metabolism or Plant Chemical Biology
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor with a research focus in the metabolism and/or chemical biology of plants. We consider plants broadly and encourage applications of candidates working on marine systems or microalgae.
SBS is searching for individuals with a well-deļ¬ned research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.
SBS covers several areas of research encompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, and cellular investigator-led projects offering many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offers cutting edge infrastructures, such as state-of-the-art structural biology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM, Rigaku FRX X-ray generator, BLI, ITC), confocal microscopy, a complete set of proteomics facilities and the Singapore phenome centre. SBS has multiple plant growth chambers and walk-in chambers, designed to cultivate plants under specific, adjustable conditions. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to access other state of the art facilities on campus and to establish fruitful collaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes on campus.

Requirements:
- We are searching for a candidate, who is ready to establish their independent research group focusing on topics that may include but are not limited to primary and secondary metabolism, chemical ecology, biochemical evolution of metabolism and its diversity and pharmaceutical activities. We strongly encourage applications from candidates working in innovative or underexplored areas, such as non-model plants, marine plant systems or microalgae. We value interdisciplinary approaches and are especially interested in researchers exploring non-canonical secondary metabolic pathways and how the plant metabolic pathways intersect with environmental factors and other biological systems.
- We are particularly excited about applicants who can place their vision in the context of our department and NTU, and envisage relevant interdisciplinary projects to drive the next wave of groundbreaking discoveries in biology and chemistry.
- The candidate should have a strong research track record in plant metabolism or chemical biology and a well-developed research plan.
- The candidate is also expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry and chemical biology.
Qualifications:
- The candidate must hold a relevant PhD, e.g. in biochemistry or biology with postdoctoral or other professional experience in related research fields.

The candidate will be offered an attractive compensation package and will be supported by generous start-up funds and laboratory space.
