Overview

The Department of Neuroscience is a basic research department focusing on synaptic biology and glia biology. We address this question in mouse models and apply electrophysiological and imaging approaches, together with mouse behavioral and in vivo electrophysiological studies.

What You'll Do

Project Summary: Tuberculosis (TB) of the brain, or CNS-TB, is the most severe form of TB and is often fatal. We aim to understand how the bacteria that cause TB affect brain cells and immune responses. Using cutting-edge single cell RNA sequencing, we study human and mouse brain tissues to identify how the disease starts, progresses, and leads to different outcomes. We aim to discover new treatment strategies and build research capacity in Africa through training and collaboration.
