A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Departments of Medicine and Bioengineering at University of Pittsburgh, one of the nation’s top ranked schools in biomedical research. We look for highly motivated individuals to work on various projects at the interface of imaging and personalized medicine. Our lab develops and applies advanced microscopy techniques (super-resolution microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, optical coherence microscopy and quantitative phase imaging) in conjunction with multiplexed imaging, machine learning, and quantitative image analysis to characterize chromatin organization and tissue microenvironment on patient-derived samples such as tissue biopsies, sputum, blood and organoid to ultimately improve patient care. For more information, you can visit our website: https://yangliulab.github.io/.

We are looking for candidates with solid skill sets in chemistry, quantitative biology and biochemistry who also are capable of handling customized advanced microscopy systems. The candidate must be self-motivated with a strong passion for research and attention to details. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team that encompasses expertise in bioengineering, electrical engineering, pathology, and oncology at University of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and other top medical centers around the country. If you look for training in how to translate basic research into applications with an impact to help patients, this is the right opportunity for you.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biophysics, bioengineering or biotechnology. We expect the candidate to be proficient with fluorescence staining and imaging, cell culture and common molecular biology techniques. In addition, the candidate must have the ability to quantitatively analyze the imaging data. Experience in super-resolution microscopy, expansion microscopy, tissue clearing, fluorescence in situ hybridization, chromatin biology or epigenetics is highly desirable.

We offer excellent salary and the benefit packages follow the standard guideline for postdoctoral associates at University of Pittsburgh. Outstanding individuals with substantial relevant experience will be considered for senior level positions or have the opportunity to advance to research faculty positions in the future. For interested candidates, please send your CV to Prof. Yang Liu by email (liuy@pitt.edu).
