TEACHER SPECIAL PROGRAMS (TSP), ACADEMIC TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (ATDP); GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION; UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY
The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks qualified temporary non-tenure track, part-time Instructors, Co-instructors, and Instructional Associates (TSP) to teach in the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) for Summer 2019 and in ATDP’s Elementary Division (ED), Secondary Division (SD), and Global Programs (GP). Screening of applicants begins immediately. An applicant will be selected for summer 2019; ED appointments begin early July; SD appointments begin mid-June, and GP appointments begin either June or July.
Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding instructors (TSPs) who can teach courses in ATDP’s Elementary Division, Secondary Division, and Global Programs:
- Elementary Division (grades K – 6): 3 weeks
- Secondary Division (grades 7 – 11): 6 weeks
- Global Programs (grades 7 – 11): 2 to 4 weeks

Individuals who qualify to teach Chemistry (SD & GP), Introduction to Engineering (SD), Writing (ED & SD), Programming in Java/Python (SD & GP), Architectural Design (SD & GP), Business & Finance (SD & GP), Mathematics (ED & SD), AP Statistics (SD), Entrepreneurship (SD & GP), Advanced Biotechnology (GP), AP Psychology (SD), Practice of Law (SD), Public Speaking (GP), Biological Sciences (SD), Elementary Science (ED) are encouraged to apply.
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include: holding office hours, assigning grades, writing student evaluations, advising students, attending faculty meetings, and preparing course materials. Teachers are also required to attend a Faculty-wide meeting in May 2019; SD instructors must attend the Student/Parent orientation in June 2019. ED instructors must attend the Student/Parent Orientation in July 2019.
Basic Qualifications: BA/BS or equivalent international degree by time of application.
Additional Qualifications (by start date): The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in teaching practice and experience in the subject matter field with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications: US teaching credential or M.A. or equivalent credential/degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application. Minimum 3 years experience working in a related field. Experience teaching K-12 academically advanced students in proposed subject matter. Experience developing and implementing student-centered or project-based curricula that engages students and facilitates learning.
Salary: These are one, two, or three month appointments. Instructor, co-Instructor, and Instructional Associate salaries are associated with number of units and typically range from
$1100 – $3800 per course.
