Position description

The Social Neuroscience Lab (Beery Lab) in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Junior or Assistant Specialist to conduct research in behavioral neuroscience.

This position reports to Annaliese Beery, Associate Professor.

The department is interested in candidates who will contribute to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

The Beery lab studies the brain basis of social behavior: integrating ecological, evolutionary and neuroscience perspectives in this work. Our primary research focus is on the neurobiological mechanisms supporting social relationships between same-sex peer companions.

This position will involve contributing to research design, executing experiments, data management, data analysis, and contribution to manuscript preparation. This position will involve interacting with and potentially training students.

The work will focus on 1) conducting research related to the roles of anxiety and autonomic nervous system function in seasonally varying social behavior in social rodents, and 2) assisting with research infrastructure (vole colony maintenance, genotyping, ordering). Opportunities for experimental training and career development will be available.
The position will keep detailed records of experiments performed, conclusions made, and communication of results orally and through lab notebook records.

This position provides full benefits.
