Research theme area:

Heterogeneous Catalysis: Tandem conversion of ethane and CO2 into high added value products

The candidate will collaborate with the Project “Tandem Conversion of Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) and CO2” and with researchers from the project NSF/CISTAR- FAPESP-RCGI- Research Centre for Geenhouse Gas Innovation of POLI-USP at the University of São Paulo. Summary of the program and projects can be found at the RCGI website (
The aim of this post-doctoral position is to have a professional with knowledge in heterogeneous catalysis and more specifically in the process Tandem Conversion of ethane and CO2 to produce aromatics hydrocarbons.

The applicant will contribute in line with the main objectives of the project:
1. Developing active and selective heterogeneous solid catalysts to tandem conversion of ethane and CO2 to produce aromatic hydrocarbons. The processes to be studied are related to EDH/EDA (ethane dehydrogenation and ethane dehydroaromatization).
2. Characterization of solid catalysts by physical-chemical techniques. It is important to have knowledge in spectroscopic techniques like DRIFTS, RAMAN, XPS, and in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Requirements to fill the position:

This project would be well-suited to a highly motivated candidate requiring experience in preparation and characterization of the heterogeneous catalysts and proficiency in English is required.
- The postdoc candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or has experience in Heterogeneous Catalysis.

Funding Notes: This Postdoc fellowship is funded by FAPESP. The fellowship will cover a standard maintenance stipend of R$ 8.479,20 (Reais) per month.
