The College of Science and Mathematics
(CSM) at UVI has openings for full-time tenure and non-tenure track faculty for Fall 2019. Applicants are required to have a PhD in their field of expertise as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. Of particular interest are candidates who will inspire and mentor students, as well as integrate instruction with research and service. Ideal candidates will be able to work collaboratively with other UVI faculty, especially those across the STEM fields and in our research centers. Successful applicants must be able to work productively with students and colleagues of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
CSM offers undergraduate programs as well as Masters Programs in Marine and Environmental Science, and Mathematics for Secondary Teachers. In addition, the College includes research centers that bridge the STEM fields: the Center for Marine and Environmental Science, the Caribbean Green Technology Center, the Virgin Islands Institute for STEM Education Research and Practice, and the Etelman Observatory. UVI is the lead institution for NSF EPSCoR funding for our territorial program Mare Nostrum Caribbean
: Stewardship Through Strategic Research and Workforce Development with a focus on understanding physical, biological, and human factors to explain the process of ecosystem dynamics, disease, and demographics on coral reefs. The College also has student training programs supported by NSF, NIH, NASA, and DOE.

Assistant Professor of Biology
(one tenure-track and one non-tenure track position on the St. Thomas Campus). All areas of biology will be considered. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in one or more of the following- anatomy and physiology, biostatistics, botany, evolution, ecology, microbiology, and molecular biology.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Mathematics Education
(one position on the St. Croix Campus). The successful candidates will be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses. Of particular interest are candidates with adaptability and a particular interest in mentoring undergraduates. The successful applicant is expected to provide leadership for curriculum development, assessment, and implementation of the developmental mathematics program.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry
(one position on the St. Thomas campus. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in any area of chemistry but those with Analytical or Biochemistry expertise are preferred. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated research focus within the broad range of chemical disciplines. The laboratories within the Department have a wide range of instrumentation including an ICPMS, FTIR, LCMS, HPLC, fluorescence spectrometer, IC, electrochemical analyzer, and a GCMS
