Assistant Professor of Astronomy (Daytona Beach Campus) – (190123)

Applications are invited for a non-tenure-track position in support of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s rapidly growing astronomy program on the Daytona Beach campus. Primary duties are to teach introductory astronomy (labs and lectures) and physics classes, and to support our regular observatory outreach events. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will collaborate with the astronomy faculty in mentoring students using the ERAU one-meter telescope and remote observing at the SARA telescopes in Arizona, Chile, and La Palma (see Candidates who intend to develop independent education and/or research projects with these facilities would be a plus.

Candidates from all astronomical fields are encouraged to apply. ERAU astronomy faculty currently conduct research on the terrestrial and lunar atmospheres, solar system dynamics, stellar atmospheres and evolution, variable stars, and kinematics of the interstellar medium. Preference will be given to candidates with observational and/or instrumentation experience.


Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics, or a related field.
