The Department of Information Science in the Graduate School of Education, University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We seek an outstanding scholar with an established research agenda, potential to acquire external funding, and ability to effectively teach online in our master’s and PhD programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an active and productive research agenda commensurate with Research 1 tenure-track faculty appointments
  • Seeking external grant funding
  • Teaching two courses per semester at the graduate level in the Information Science master’s and PhD programs
  • Advising Information Science master’s and PhD students
  • Participating in professional activities and serving on department, school, and university committees.

About UB
The Department of Information Science offers an ALA-accredited MS in Information and Library Science, an MS in School Librarianship, and an Advanced Studies Certificate. Its fully online Ph.D. in Information Science program started in Spring 2020. These programs enjoy strong stakeholder support from the community and robust enrollment. In addition, we have collaborative agreements with the School of Law to offer a JD/MS in Information and Library Science and with the Department of Music to offer an MA (Music) and MS in Information and Library Science. The Department is ranked 21st in the world in the 2020 QS World Rankings for Library and Information Management, and is ranked 22nd in the 2017 US News & World Report Rankings for Library and Information Studies programs.
