Overview
The faculty in Molecular Biology and Microbiology (MBM) at Tufts University School of Medicine are united by a common interest in addressing problems related to the genetics and molecular functions of microorganisms that are relevant to infection and health world-wide.
This position works in the Aldridge Lab. The Bree Aldridge Lab develops quantitative methods to study tuberculosis and complex cell behaviors. We are currently recruiting passionate research talent with strong backgrounds in quantitative science or engineering and experimental biology.
What You'll Do
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator (Bree Aldridge), along with other lab members, and senior scientists in neighboring labs (who are intimately familiar with the techniques required), the Research Technician conducts a variety of experiments using a variety of skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducts routine experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures to achieve results
- Performs techniques such as tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein purification and others
- Records results and maintains accurate records of experiments
- Performs limited data interpretation and assists with basic statistics and analysis
- Maintains laboratory equipment and orders/keeps inventory of supplies
- Prepares stock solutions, reagents and other media
- Monitors animal colonies and performs husbandry, collects samples and maintains census records
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and skills typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in science with up to one year laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
- Occasional need to work beyond regular work hours, holidays, or weekends, based on experiments demand
Pay Range
Minimum $19.30, Midpoint $23.15, Maximum $27.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
