Position Summary
The Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in quantitative human-environment geography with interests centering on contemporary issues in human-environment interactions using data-driven tools and methods. We are open to a range of topical interests related to the coupled natural human systems (e.g., water scarcity, climate/environmental change, public health risk, environmental justice, environmental modeling). Relevant quantitative research expertise includes, but is not limited to, field methods, earth observation, data mining, geospatial artificial intelligence, spatial analytics, and modeling. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced undergraduate courses as well graduate seminars on topics relevant to human-environment interactions. Preferred candidates will be able to teach courses across multiple areas (GIS, physical geography, and/or human geography) to serve our degree and certificate programs.
Candidates will be expected to have a demonstrated record of publications, strong potential to receive external funding, commitment to student mentoring and teaching, and a willingness to participate in building our department. Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Geography or related field and expertise in one of the target areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated potential for securing external funding and publishing peer-reviewed research.
