The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (CFWE) at Auburn University invites applications for a 12 month Professor of Practice who will contribute to the Parks, Recreation and Community Sport (PARK) program with a desired start date of August 1, 2023. This will be a full-time permanent position (non-tenure track).
The PARK major provides students with broad training on how to design, manage, develop programs for, and administer federal, state, or local park and recreation areas. Courses with a community emphasis will prepare students for managing and programming at community park and recreation areas, trails, and sporting facilities. All students will learn how to maximize visitor experiences while maintaining the facilities and conserving natural resources.
PARK is a new major at Auburn University in the CFWE. The major is built from a preexisting minor and strong support from additional social science and natural science faculty in the Environmental Conservation and Management major. This position is part of a group hire to build the new major. We seek a colleague who can help build the program and contribute to our commitment to train the next generation of professionals to address high priority issues around parks, outdoor recreation, health, access, leadership, and communication.
