Cybersecurity - Assistant Professor Tenure Track

The Department of Information and Decision Sciences (IDS) within the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC) at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August, 2020.

Candidates must have knowledge, skill and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Cybersecurity and Information Technology at California State University and an interest to teach at both Palm Desert and San Bernardino campuses. The candidate will also serve as a liaison to the local community for Cybersecurity initiatives. Candidates with teaching (applied/hands-on) and research experiences in the following areas are preferred: Cybersecurity Management; Ethical Hacking; Forensics; Applied Cybersecurity; SCADA/IOT; SQL; Industry recognized certifications such as Seccurity+, CISSP, etc.

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students, and graduates about 5,000 students annually. As a designated Hispanic Serving Institution, CSUSB reflects the dynamic diversity of the region and has one of the most diverse student populations of any university in the Inland Empire, and the second highest Hispanic enrollment of all public universities in California. The Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC), which is accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), consists of five academic departments: Accounting and Finance, Information and Decision Science, Management, Marketing, and Public Administration.

Typical Activities
The incumbent is expected to provide innovative and cutting-edge teaching at the undergraduate and master's level and evidence of strong publication record in Cybersecurity and Information Technology and/or a promising stream of research. It is also expected that the successful candidate will play an active role in maintaining and developing student engagement in Cybersecurity and Information Technology related areas, advising, coaching and mentoring students, and serving on department, college, and university-wide committees. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for taking leadership roles in developing new innovative programs, promoting a research environment within the department, and supporting University, JHBC, and IDS strategic goals, which include student success and partnerships with the community to enhance the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the region and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications
(1) An earned doctorate in Cybersecurity or a closely-related discipline, (2) Demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the university and to the profession, (3) Strong commitment to quality of student learning and program excellence, and (4) Ability to obtain and conduct federally funded research that requires a top secret security clearance. (ABD may be considered, Ph.D. required by August, 2020).
