We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow / Research Associate to join our dynamic research group, which focuses on protein amyloids and structural biology. The successful candidate will focus on understanding the structure and function of proteins implicated in corneal dystrophies, with a particular emphasis on protein amyloids, using advanced techniques in biochemistry and structural biology. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive high-impact research in a collaborative and innovative scientific environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of protein expression systems and sample preparation workflows.

  • Prepare samples for structural studies using cryo-EM and/or NMR spectroscopy.

  • Biophysical and biochemical assays to study protein interactions.

  • Work closely with team members to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality samples and structural data.

  • Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and research reports.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of protocols, results, and workflows.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.

  • Engage in routine lab maintenance, reagent preparation, and training of undergraduate students as needed.

  • Able to work independently, develop practical solutions under tight timelines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD (for Research Fellow) / MSc (for Research Associate) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Biotechnology, or a closely related field.

  • Practical expertise in protein expression, purification, and related workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using software tools for NMR or cryo-EM data collection and processing is a plus.

  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, mutagenesis, and cell culture is a plus.
