The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS) within the Faculty of Science is expanding. With a recent Head of School appointment and multiple Professorial appointments in Mathematics and Statistics we are now investing in the discipline of Physics. With a keen interesting to excel in the areas of computational and experimental Space Science, Photonics, Nano and Materials Surface science this is the time to join UON.

What will you do?
The successful candidate will, through collaboration with existing areas of research strength, create a new area of academic excellence within the University of Newcastle.

Associate Professor Physics (3802)

  • Provide leadership that fosters staff development and promotes cooperation between the University, government and allied research affiliates, and industry.
  • Build and lead a research program to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the discipline
  • Enhance student learning and experience by leading staff in delivering a relevant curriculum using contemporary teaching pedagogies (e.g. blended and active learning).
    Lecturer Physics (3795)
  • Foster increased cooperation between the University, government and allied research affiliates, and industry.
  • Attract industry-based research support and competitive external grant funding.
  • Build a research program to attract undergraduate and higher degree students to the discipline.
  • Embrace contemporary teaching pedagogies (e.g. blended and active learning) and participate in activities to enhance student experience.

The remuneration is from $140,407- $154,943 (Level D) $95,351- $113,231 (Level B) + 17% super and is commensurate with experience.
