The https://ubwp.buffalo.edu/bme-avml/researchAlevriadou Vascular Mechanobiology Laboratory (AVML) is seeking a Research Technician II to work in our lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, The University at Buffalo, North Campus.
AVML investigates vascular endothelial cell signaling mechanisms and (dys)function in response to changes in the mechanochemical environment. We focus on the roles of mitochondrial calcium and reactive oxygen species on metabolism, gene expression, protein synthesis, and cell survival vs. inflammation and apoptosis, in an effort to better understand the molecular basis of cardiovascular diseases.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Use standard biochemical techniques, including, but not limited to, mammalian (endothelial) tissue culture, immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, transfection and viral transduction, siRNA transfection, qRT-PCR, ELISA, immunocytochemistry, FACS analysis, metabolism and apoptosis assays
- Perform experiments, and assist other lab members with their experiments, and interpret results
- Perform lab maintenance duties, including ordering of laboratory materials and supplies
