Start Date: July 2020 or as negotiated

The Department of Animal Science seeks candidates for a tenure-track position aimed at developing an internationally recognized program in functional genetics. The successful candidate will capitalize on current and emerging genomic concepts and technologies to advance our understanding of domestic animal biology and its practical application for improving animal production, well-being, and interaction with humans and the environment. Teaching opportunities include an upper level or graduate course in genomics and an additional course aligned with the candidate’s subject matter expertise and/or curricular needs.

The new faculty member will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary community on the main campus in Ithaca, New York. A Ph.D. is required in genetics or an appropriate discipline with demonstrated capability, success, and (or) potential in developing competitive research and teaching programs in functional genetics commensurate with career stage. Postdoctoral research expertise is preferred. Candidates with a strong interest and ability to explore fundamental mechanisms and genetic manipulation while integrating big data, digital technology, and information science in animal agriculture are highly desirable.
