A reasonable estimate for this position is $53,100 - $61,300.

Percent time: 100%

Anticipated start: Fall 2024

Position duration: 12 months with the possibility of an extension depending on performance and continuation of appropriate funding.

Position description

The Computer Science Division at the University of California, Berkeley seeks a Junior or Assistant Specialist to conduct research on trustworthy machine learning, trustworthy AI, and robustness for large language models (LLMs) and support the research of Professor David Wagner's research group.

The duties of this position include identifying ideas for research directions, developing novel techniques for robustness of LLMs and/or machine learning classifiers, implementing candidate techniques, evaluating both novel and existing techniques for trustworthiness and robustness, communicating results and writing research papers, and collaborating with other researchers and supporting research in the group.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent international degree) program.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent international degree or equivalent research experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent international degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Experience with the technical tools needed for this research, including PyTorch and implementation of machine learning.
