An assistant professor is expected to develop a vigorous and funded research program, to be committed to teaching a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to serve the Department, university, and discipline.

The successful candidate will contribute to the growing focus on sustainability in the Department and university, and will complement existing strengths in the Department involving molecular and materials synthesis, measurement and analysis, environmental chemistry, and the basic science of energy storage and conversion.

Research interests within the Department span the traditional disciplines of chemistry – analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical – as well as the ever-expanding interfaces of chemistry with biology, materials science, engineering, medicine, and physics. We benefit greatly from collaborative affiliations with researchers within the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Engineering, Dental Medicine, Medicine, and Pharmacy; the Roswell Park Cancer Institute; the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute; the Centers of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Materials Informatics; the RENEW Institute; and the Center for Computational Research.
