UC Clermont College provides student-centered undergraduate education in an open-access, regional college environment. Job Overview
To this end, the Science & Health Department at UC Clermont College seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry at the level of Assistant Professor. The position will begin August 15, 2023, unless otherwise indicated.

Essential Functions
Tenure-track faculty responsibilities include the following:

  • Teaching twelve (12) credit-hours for each of two primary semesters (Fall and Spring), including lectures and labs during day, and possibly evenings as needed.

  • Scheduling a minimum of four office hours per week.

  • Participating in ongoing scholarship/research.

  • Participating in service to the department, college, university, and community.

  • All candidates must demonstrate/provide evidence of effective teaching and professional development and must have appropriate degrees awarded by the time of appointment.

  • Position Description: Selected candidates should expect to focus on teaching first year chemistry courses, including non-majors' courses, but may be asked to teach other courses included in the chemistry curriculum.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry and one (1) year college-level teaching experience as the primary instructor.

  • The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high academic standards while encouraging and supporting students with diverse backgrounds, interests, and aptitudes.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Background in biochemistry.

  • Experience in undergraduate research.

  • Experience in use of innovative instructional technologies.

  • At least two (2) years of experience teaching a variety of freshman- and sophomore-level chemistry courses in an institution where students have varied interests, degrees of preparation, and aptitude.
