Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Physics
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is hiring a tenure track assistant professor with the goal of enhancing a science center to sustainably address foreseeable societal problems associated with resource limitations. The research areas of interest include but are not limited to: energy, environmental physics, next generation quantum logic and algorithms. Preference will be given to candidates working towards enhancing environmental sustainability. Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent externally funded research program; to mentor, teach and direct students/researchers in physics from the undergraduate to postdoctoral levels; and to engage in outreach and service activities. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or related area, a demonstrated interest in sustainability science, and the capacity to secure extramural funding. Postdoctoral experience will be given preference. To apply candidates must submit: 1) letter of interest, 2) statement of research interests and plan, 3) brief outline of teaching experience and/or philosophy, 4) curriculum vitae, 5) copies of up to three most relevant publications, and 6) complete contact information for at least three references.
