The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at New Mexico Tech (NMT) seeks applicants for two tenure-track positions. The expected start date of the positions is August 2019. We intend to make an appointment at the Assistant Professor level; an Endowed Assistant Professor appointment may be considered for appropriately qualified applicants. An Associate Professor position would be considered for applicants with substantial experience. At the time of appointment, the applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Engineering, or a very closely related field. Potential for teaching and research excellence are vital qualifications. We seek a candidate with the ability to conduct research in current areas of CS and IT, especially in cyber-security, cyber-physical systems, machine learning, and data science, and to attract research funding. Other expectations for new faculty include teaching CS and IT courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, advising and mentoring M.S. and Ph.D. students, and service to the department and institute.
The CSE Department has about 240 students in its B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs. Along with excellent facilities for research and teaching, there are opportunities to interact with nearby institutions such as the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Sandia National Laboratories. The department has been designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research (CAE-R) since 2009 by DHS/NSA. Its B.S. in Computer Science program has been accredited by ABET, Inc.
Applicants should submit a letter of interest, resume, the names and addresses of at least three references, a brief description of research interests and accomplishments, a statement of teaching philosophy with teaching preferences based on the department’s course catalog, and transcripts of graduate work (all in one attachment) to Computer Science Tenure-track Search, Human Resources, Box 004, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, 801 Leroy Place, Socorro, NM 87801.
