Description: The main objective of the scholarship’s work plan will be to conduct investigations and propose solutions to answer the following research questions: (i) what is the most suitable data architecture to meet the requirements of cloud-assisted IoT applications? (ii) what are the necessary mechanisms for the efficient management of in real time data flow (streaming) in these environments? (iii) which resource allocation management mechanism is best suited to provide data streams efficiently for applications? To achieve the objectives, the following activities will be carried out: (i) Systematic Literature Review; (ii) specification of algorithms; (iii) prototyping of software components that implement the specified algorithms and; (iii) carrying out experiments and / or case studies to evaluate the performance of the solutions.
Required Skills: Candidates must have a PhD in Computing and have knowledge in Internet of Things, Edge / Fog Computing, Cloud Computing, resource allocation algorithms and stream processing. Candidates must be proficient in English language and have knowledge of programming in network simulators and Fog computing frameworks. Understanding Portuguese language is desired.
