The Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, invites
applications for a full-time (9 month) faculty position, beginning January 2023.
MADONNA UNIVERSITY is a Franciscan, Catholic co-educational liberal arts university located in Livonia,
Michigan, a western suburb of the metropolitan Detroit area. The growing student body of over 3,000 students
is an exciting and diverse mix of traditional and non-traditional commuter students representing all ages and
ethnicities of Southeastern Michigan. Teaching is of primary importance.
THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES provides foundational science
instruction for several majors across the University as well as over 70 biological science majors. We have
two full-time faculty members and numerous adjunct faculty. Our programs are distinctive and our faculty are
committed to student success. Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department enjoys
collaborative relationships with colleagues throughout the University. Modern labs are located in an awardwinning green building.
RESPONSIBILITIES include a primary focus on teaching, including courses such as cellular biology,
evolution and human anatomy and physiology; scheduling biology courses, recommending adjunct faculty
for hire; serving as the faculty mentor for the health sciences club; ongoing scholarly activity, engaging in
student-centered research projects; coordinating human anatomy and physiology laboratories; coordinating
curriculum review, student recruitment and advising; assisting in the implementation of review sessions for
biology education majors and minors; program assessment and evaluation; and active participation in
university governance and academic life.
QUALIFICATIONS include an earned doctorate in biological science, or related field from an accredited
school; evidence of successful teaching at the college level; a commitment to working collaboratively within
the Madonna University community; and strong interpersonal communication skills. Candidates with
successful experience teaching and performing administrative duties at the college level will be given priority.

RANK & SALARY are at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and are commensurate with academic
