Post-doctoral position

A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, University of California Davis. The candidate will study mechanisms of bioenergetics in neurodevelopment (autism, schizophrenia) and neurodegeneration (fragile X tremor/ataxia syndrome, Huntington’s disease). Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, neuroscience, or related fields. Experience in one of the following areas is preferred: mitochondrial physiology, energy metabolism, membrane protein biochemistry/biophysics, aging, neurodegeneration, mammalian cell culture, enzymology, genetic manipulation, siRNA, qPCR, PCR, and confocal microscopy. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The positions require timely completion of the research outlined in the grant proposals.
The successful candidate will work on multidisciplinary research projects combining biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, combined omics (lipidomics, proteomics, and metabolomics), imaging, epidemiology, toxicology, and psychiatry. Trainees will be mentored in developing a research program to provide the foundation for future independent research careers.
